2015 JAZZ & ARTS FESTIVAL OPENS WITH MAJOR CARIBBEAN & LOCAL STAR POWER

Chronixx, D Invader, Destra, Arthur Allain, & more to hit the stage!   Saint Lucia (April 13, 2015) – Nestled in what has been termed the Capital of Castries, ‘The People’s Auditorium,’ - the Mindoo Phillip Park, will again serve as the home for the official Opening of the region’s most highly anticipated musical spectacle - the 24th edition of the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival. Carded for April 30th, thousands of festival goers are expected to flock to the popular venue for a lineup featuring an all-star cast of Caribbean powerhouses designed to jumpstart the festival. Red hot Jamaican reggae superstar Chronixx will headline the Opening, which will also feature flamboyant Trinidad and Tobago Soca Queen Destra, who will be backed up by the Bakanal Band. Veteran and decorated kaiso and soca phenomenon D Invader will lead the local cast of performers, which will also include reigning Groovy King, the versatile Arthur Allain, the melodic Sherwinn “Dupes” Brice and youth heart throbs Sedale & Wildfire. “Not only are we planning to thrill audiences with the diverse all-star cast of regional and local entertainers down to perform at the Opening, we are also seeking to create that ‘wow factor’ when patrons enter the venue,” says Tourist Board’s Special Events Manager, Dahlia Guard. CARIMI and Zouk Machine To Headline Fond d’Or Jazz 2015

The Fond d’Or Foundation is once again pleased to announce for the fifteenth year running Fond d’Or Jazz 2015. This year the celebration of real Saint Lucian folk sounds, blending with smooth jazz and Caribbean music will be held on Saturday 2nd May, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. The keys, the harmony, the voices, and the flow; the trees, the cool Atlantic breeze; the people, the culinary delights; exquisite social ambience; all the right ingredients to take you on a journey to Fond d’Or Jazz! A bit isolated from the popular main stage jazz venues in the north as it is located in the rustic plantation setting on the east coast of Saint Lucia, Fond d’Or has made a name for itself over the last 14 years as the kick-off event of ‘bringing the best of jazz to the people’ during the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival. This year the festival will play host to Saint Lucia’s very own: Avot Sevis, Evalucian Band and Miste en Local. Building on 2013 scintillating festival with Kassav, which saw many attendees, this year’s 2015 festival will highlight CARIMI from Haiti based in the US and the internationally renowned group ZOUK MACHINE from Guadeloupe. La Place Carenage Officially Launches Tea Time Jazz 2015

Castries – Friday, April 10, 2015 – The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) recently held the official launch of the 18th Annual Tea Time Jazz.  The long existing fringe event on the Calendar of Events of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, features free performances by local artistes while offering patrons complimentary tea, coffee and light snacks. The launch which took place at the home of the event, La Place Carenage Duty Free Shopping Mall in the form of a “Sip and Chat” with hosts Marva Greenidge, Marketing Specialist- Commercial Development and Peter Lewis, Port Officer both employees of the Authority. The Mall Manager and Event Coordinator, Ms. Susanna Isaac, described this year as the event entering adulthood marking its 18th year in existence. The enthusiastic hosts of the event unveiled the lineup which kicks off on Wednesday May 6th with Gospel Vybz which includes, Shem Meluce, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter who is known for his hit singles, “Everything is Gonna be Right” and “Nothing Can Compare” as well as, Voices of Praise; four young talented women with exceptional voices offering inspirational messages of hope.  Also on that day, the highly reputed musician/vocalist, arranger and composer, Barbara Cadet is expected to excite patrons with her usual exceptional performance.    On Thursday May 7th, the bands ASAP and EPIC will be closing the event off with their dynamic and energizing renditions.
